What’s Altbrain?

Glad you asked!

As the name implies, it’s my alternate brain; a place to come when all the bits and bytes vaporize from the noggin and when I’m tired of Googling the same stuff over and over again like an insane person. I’ve been at this tech stuff for 25+ years now, have had an opportunity to touch a thing or two, and along my journey I’ve found myself keeping notes on things and referring to them often. Over time, I plan to collect my notes from the various places I’ve been hoarding them, and will take a stab at cleaning them up and presenting them here at altbrain.net along with some additional context and color when warranted.

What I aim to accomplish:

  • A Shared Knowledge Base: A library of technical notes, configurations, and hard-learned lessons, for the community and my peers.
  • My “Single Source of Truth” and Efficiency: Let’s be honest—I’m tired of Googling the same solutions I’ve already solved a dozen times. This will become my definitive reference point.
  • Having Fun: What’s the point, if it’s not! I kind of enjoy writing thoughts down, so this will be a good outlet for that.

Whether you’re a colleague looking for something specific or a fellow engineer wandering in from a search engine, I hope the content saves you some time, spares you some grief, or you find it mildly entertaining. Maybe, you’ll find something useful or interesting too. I also have a few stories to tell and other interests, so perhaps I’ll sprinkle in some non-tech stuff as well.

Thanks for visiting!
